Texas Exotic Breeding
Hunters and Protectors of Wildlife and Habitat
The number one reason for the demise of various species on this planet is loss of habitat. This loss can be through humane and purposeful environmental productivity and development, population growth, as well as naturally occurring changes to our environment. No matter what the reason, we, at Morani River Ranch, have dedicated our land and our resources to assist in the propagation of many species of wildlife that we have found will not only survive, but also thrive here in the southern Texas Hill Country.
Morani River Ranch has over 70 species of exotic and African species on the ranch including 10 species that are either threatened or endangered in their native habitat. While these species may be classified as threatened or endangered in their native lands, here in Texas (with few exceptions) they have a proven, documented and sustainable population that allows for the selective harvesting of these animals in order to maintain healthy, balanced populations. The value of these animals to others (both in live animal sales as well as for hunting) attributes to their own survival. Despite being a renewable resource, when properly managed, if there is no value or market for these animals, they will not be taken care of and their survival will be limited to a zoo environment at best and extinction at worst.
Here at Morani River Ranch, we’ve raised exotic species for close to 10 years as we built our herds from the top breeders in Texas. With a focus on genetics and the purity of the species, we have achieved a very high level of success with hearty, pasture-raised animals that thrive in the beautiful and vast southern Texas Hill Country. These species are available for live sales to qualified ranches on an as-available basis consistent with our management and preservation goals and objectives.
